Aloe Vera used Throughout History
Aloe Vera has been found described in writings in many different cultures and as far back as the Greek, Egyptians, and Roman eras. References have also been found in writings from the Indian and Chinese early cultures these ancient records show that the benefits of Aloe Vera have been known for centuries, with its therapeutic advantages and healing properties surviving for over 4000 years.
The earliest record of Aloe Vera is on a Sumerian tablet dating from 2100 BC, however, Its antiquity was first discovered in 1862 in an Egyptian papyrus dated 1550 BC where Egyptian Queens associated its use with their physical beauty.
Legend also suggests that Alexander the Great conquered the island of Socotra to secure supplies of Aloes to treat the battle wounds of his soldiers and In 1944, the Japanese, exposed to the "A" bomb applied aloe gel to their wounds and reported faster healing and less scaring.
There is much confusion between Aloe Vera Gel and Aloe Vera Juice with the two often being thought synonymous. The term Gel refers to the inner leaf only, whereas Juice refers to "Aloe Latex" a bitter substance found just under the skin of the leaf.

Growing & Harvesting

Processing Methods
Forever Living processes its Aloe Vera leaves within hours of harvesting. They are washed and rinsed twice before carefully hand filleted. The raw gel is stabilised by a proven, patented process which preserves essentially all of the 75 different nutritional compounds naturally occurring in the plant.
From the time of harvesting, through the entire stabilisation process, the gel is handled in a sanitary environment, even the machinery and buildings are clean and sanitised to ensure the highest quality.
Only the pure Aloe Vera gel is used. The leaf, along with the yellowish lining (called aloin) is discarded for fertiliser. The pulp of the raw gel remains to be stabilised.
Many competitors may use the whole leaf manufacturing process, involving harvesting the whole plant rather than the individual leaves. The whole plant is then "grinded" with the use of filters to remove unwanted products such as the rind and the sap of the plant, often called bitter aloes or aloin.

Sorbital is derived from corn/maize and not only aids in the absorption of vitamins and minerals from the gel but is also a natural sweetener.

Citric acid is found naturally in citrus fruits such as lemons, limes and oranges. It helps to adjust the acidity / alkalinity (ph) and has antioxidant properties. It is also a mild astringent.

Xanthan gum a natural stabilising and emulsifying agent from kelp (seaweed).
Tocopherol is more commonly known as Vitamin E. An antioxidant derived from wheatgerm oil, rice kernel and vegetable oils.
Fructose a natural fruit sugar that enhances the actions of other stabilisers.
